Australia’s number three Marnus Labuschagne is the latest number one in the ICC Test rankings. His important knocks in the ongoing Ashes series has prompted him to that position. Meanwhile, India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli has dropped down to the seventh position while Rohit Sharma has moved inside the top 5.

England skipper Joe Root who is the highest run-scorer in Tests in 2021 has been dethroned from his number one position. He is on 897 rating points as compared to Labuschange’s 912.

The switch between the Ashes opponents came as Labuschagne racked up 228 runs at an average of 76.00 in the first two Tests of Ashes 2021. Root didn’t do too badly either – 175 runs at 43.75 – but lost six points which was enough for his slip.

Meanwhile, Kohli (756) is playing the mid-table game with David Warner (775). Kohli scored his last Test ton back in 2019. It was also his last international century incidentally. Warner, on the other hand, roared back to form with a couple of 90s in the first two Tests.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are both not inside the top 10 while Travis Head courtesy his ton in the first Test has made it inside that list.
