Mohammad Amir Secures Irish Visa, Ready To Join The Pakistan Team Before The Second T20I

“After receiving his Irish visa, Mohammad Amir is poised to reunite with the Pakistan cricket team before the second T20I match in Dublin on May 12,” announced the Irish consulate, easing concerns for Pakistani cricket authorities.

The initial match of the three-game T20 series is scheduled for Friday at the Clontaff ground. A spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the board has been informed of Amir’s visa approval and is currently arranging his travel to join the squad in Dublin.

Amir, currently situated in Lahore, had been left behind as the rest of the team departed for Dublin on May 7 in preparation for the series. The resolution came following deliberations between the PCB and Cricket Ireland to address the visa delay issue concerning Amir. Despite the lack of a specific explanation from the Irish consulate, the PCB source disclosed that the delay was attributable to technical reasons, which have now been resolved.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the visa delay, the PCB emphasized its impact on team management plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup and on Amir himself, who returned to international cricket after a four-year hiatus. The source highlighted the importance of timely visa issuance, stressing its implications for both the team’s strategic preparations and the player’s career trajectory.

Contrasting Visa Experiences: Mohammad Amir’s Journey from Ireland to England T20 Series

Following the series in Ireland, the Pakistani team is scheduled to travel to England for a four-game T20 series commencing on May 22 in Leeds. Interestingly, Amir’s past visa experiences with Ireland contrast starkly with the recent delay.

In 2018, he encountered no such hurdles when granted a visa to participate in Ireland’s inaugural Test match against Pakistan. However, with travel arrangements underway, the PCB is working to ensure Amir’s swift integration into the team.
