Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was taken to hospital for precautionary MRI scans following his injury against India on Sunday, September 4. Incidentally, India and Pakistan lock horns in the Super 4 clash of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai where the latter outplayed the former to win the match by five wickets.
Meanwhile, during the first innings, Rizwan injured himself as he landed awkwardly on his right leg while trying to fetch a bouncer behind the stumps. As the ball evaded Rizwan, the entirety of the wicketkeeper’s body weight landed on his knee, following which he collapsed on the ground and sought help.
Mohammad Rizwan was immediately attended by the physio and after a few minutes he was back in his feet. While he looked in terrible pain, he played a match-winning knock, scoring 71 runs off 51 deliveries.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that Rizwan was taken to the hospital immediately after the Indo-Pak game in Dubai to determine the extent of his injury. The Men in Green will hope Mohammad Rizwan to be fully fit before their next Asia Cup fixture.
Pakistan are battling an injury crisis over the last couple of weeks. While Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jnr have already been ruled out of the tournament, fellow pacer Shahnawaz Dahani didn’t feature in the Super 4 contest against India due to a niggle.

Mohammad Rizwan said that it is always important for any player to perform in a crucial clash between the arch rivals as so many people are watching it all over the world. Addressing the press, Rizwan stated:
“It is always a special match when India and Pakistan play. Not just people in Pakistan and India, but people from all over the world are watching and that is what makes the occasion special. The value of an India vs Pakistan match is that of a final and players try hard to do well in this match.”
