Star Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has revealed what he bought with his first Indian Premier League (IPL) salary. The pacer from Hyderabad earned his first contract when Sunrisers Hyderabad roped him ahead of IPL 2017.

He initially made his impression by picking up 10 wickets. Siraj was then snared by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of IPL 2019 for INR 2.6 crore. Since then, he has been an integral member of the squad and Virat Kohli’s go-to bowler.

The management also retained Mohammed Siraj for IPL 2022 along with Virat Kohli (INR 15 crore) and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (INR 11 crore). Throwing light on his first IPL deal, the pacer from Hyderabad revealed what he did with his first IPL money.

Speaking on RCB’s podcast with Danish Sait, Siraj revealed:

“First thing, I bought was iPhone 7+. Then I bought a second-hand car, Corolla. Car is important. IPL players need to have a car. For how long do I push around a Platina? But I didn’t know how to drive. My uncle’s son knew to drive so I called him every time I wanted to go out.”

Adding further, Mohammed Siraj revealed that the second-hand car didn’t have an AC, so he used to drive with windows open and fans used to cheer when they saw him. Also, the following year, he got a Mercedes for himself.

Coming from a humble background and early struggles didn’t dampen Siraj’s dream of representing India at the highest level. While his father was not around to see his son don the India jersey, but he must be a proud father.

Mohammed Siraj had revealed that it was his father’s dream to see him play Test cricket for India Siraj’s father passed away in November, but Siraj decided to stay back in Australia to fulfil the dream of his father.

He eventually made his debut in the Sydney Test where cameras captured an emotional Siraj in tears during the national anthem. Siraj is currently one of India’s leading fast bowlers along with Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
