Former England spinner Monty Paneser has revealed his choice between UK and the UAE for the remaining IPL 2021 season. The season was suspended on May 4 by the BCCI after players from several IPL franchisees tested COVID positive. Now the BCCI has said that the remaining IPL season will be played between September-October and they are busy finding the right venue for it.

Meanwhile Monty Panesar has thrown his weight behind UAE as the perfect venue for the remaining season, UAE hosted the entire IPL 2020 season without any reports of COVID. The successful IPL season last year was one of the highest achievements of BCCI under Sourav Ganguly besides the Indian maiden Pink-Ball Test match.

Speaking about IPL 2021 being completed in the UK after the five-match Test series between Indian and England and before the T20 World Cup, former England spinner Monty Panesar remarked that this option should not be carried due to the weather conditions in England in September.

IPL Should Not Be Held In The UK: Monty Panesar

IPL shouldn’t be held in England in September because it will rain a lot there. Too many intervals will spoil the fun. If India are not able to control the pandemic, it should be held in UAE because weather conditions play a huge factor” said Panesar.

Speaking about the impact of rein, Monty Panesar that the rain might play a spoilsport reducing matches between 10-15 overs. He further said that the organisers should not host the season in the UK knowing the consequences.

When it rains in England, it plays spoilsport. You will see an important T20 match get reduced to 15 overs and then 10 overs. We don’t want that to happen with IPL because the brand will take a hit,” Monty Panesar told Sports Yaari, a Youtube channel.

Panesar thus urged IPL organisers to take weather into account before making a final decision on hosting the remaining season in the UK.
