MS Dhoni And Rohit Sharma Keep The Dressing Room Calm But Virat Kohli Keeps Everyone On Their Toes – Parthiv Patel

Virat Kohli has always been criticised for his captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli has an outstanding record as captain of India but has an ordinary record as skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Parthiv Patel has seen the captaincy of Kohli from close quarters while playing with him at RCB.

Parthiv believes that at times Kohli goes in a defensive mode which is the reason why he hasn’t been successful. Speaking to Aakash Chopra on his YouTube Channel, Parthiv revealed that Kohli needs to aggressive with whatever players he has at RCB. Kohli has lost several matches in the IPL from a winning position by just letting the game drift for a few overs.

Kohli needs to be more aggressive – Parthiv Patel

“For RCB, I feel with whatever arsenal he (Kohli) has if he can afford to be aggressive. Also, the ground on which he is playing also matters a lot. If you are not getting help from the wicket, we tend to go for a defensive approach. If we can restrict the opposition to 190-200, we have a chance. But if we go for wickets and concede 220-230, we are totally out of the game.”

“So, that is why I feel when he captains for India he is aggressive but for RCB just because of the ground and the players he has, he is a bit defensive”, said Parthiv Patel to Aakash Chopra.

The wicketkeeper-batsman also compared the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. When he was asked to rate the three in terms of captaincy, he decided to play it safe. Parthiv pointed out that all three have their own style when they captain their sides.

“They are different. Dhoni and Rohit keep the dressing room calm while Virat makes sure that everyone is on their toes and everyone keeps pushing themselves”, Parthiv Patel concluded.
