Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has shared the dressing room with former India skipper MS Dhoni for a long time now. After spending quality time in the India jersey, Harbhajan joined Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. As a result, the cricketer from Punjab has seen Dhoni’s transformation from close quarters.

When the wicket-keeper batsman bursts onto the scene in 2004, Harbhajan Singh has already made a name for himself. He scintillating hat-trick in Australia Test at Eden Gardens will forever be in the heart of the Indian cricket lovers. The Turbanator was also a part of the MS Dhoni-led side that won the World Cups in 2007 and 2011.

Harbhajan Singh recently took part in an Instagram Live Session on the official handle of Chennai Super Kings and it was then that the spinner was asked to name his favourite memories with Dhoni. The 39-year-old also heaped captain Dhoni saying he used to give freedom to the players to express themselves.

“We have played a lot of cricket together, we have done tours to probably all the countries, MS Dhoni was a very shy guy, he never used to come to our rooms, he was a very quiet guy, in the 2008 series against Australia, the Sydney Test brought the team together, from that time onwards, he started opening up,” Harbhajan said.

“He was a young guy in the team, he was the captain but still he was very shy, he used to give suggestions, but he allowed everyone to do their thing, he is still the same, he gives everyone all the freedom, this is probably something people should learn from him, you should give space to bowlers,” he added.

MS Dhoni since then took Indian cricket to new heights. He is the only cricketer in the history to win three ICC titles apart from taking Indian cricket to the pinnacle spot in the ICC Test Rankings. Meanwhile, he has been on a sabbatical since the 2019 ICC World Cup defeat to New Zealand. His retirement speculations are on an all-time high and have been the talk of the town.
