Umesh Yadav has been out of the limited-overs side for quite some time now. Despite being in his top-form in the Tests, the fast bowler from Vidarbha has not been in contention in white-ball cricket. And with the ICC T20 World Cup looming ahead, Umesh Yadav feels he is not in contention for a berth for the mega event.
Incidentally, Umesh was not in contention for the 2019 World Cup spot in England. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the three pacers to travel for the mega competition. After missing the 50-overs competition, Umesh Yadav believes he will not be in contention for the T20 blitz in Australia.

The 32-year-old made his much-awaited return to white-ball cricket after he scalped 20 wickets in IPL 2018. However, he couldn’t keep his place for long and hasn’t played an ODI since October 2018. Umesh Yadav has so far played seven T20I matches scalping nine wickets at an economy rate of 8.76.
“As for the spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Bumrah and Bhuvi will be the fast bowlers and it will be a tough fight for the third spot between Shami and Deepak Chahar. I don’t think I am in contention for that spot,” Yadav told Sportskeeda.

Meanwhile, the selectors snubbed Umesh Yadav from home Test series against South Africa. He was a part of the away Test series against New Zealand but played only the second match in place of injured Ishant Sharma. He is likely to retain his place in the longest format; however, unlikely to return in the limited-overs.
Umesh has scalped 259 international wickets from 46 Tests, 75 ODIs, and seven T20Is. He also has 119 wickets from the same number of matches in the Indian Premier League.
