20-year-old spinner Vaishnavi Sharma revealed Team India legend Virat Kohli as her favorite male cricketer following the T20I series between India Women and Sri Lanka Women. She also included Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar among her top picks.

Alongside naming these cricketing greats, Vaishnavi expressed her wish to meet Virat Kohli in person.

“Abhi tak Virat Kohli se nahi mili. Mujhe unse milna hai (I have not met Virat Kohli yet. I want to meet him),” she said in an interview with Eye India.

The left-arm spinner also shared her top three favorite female cricketers, naming opener Smriti Mandhana, all-rounder Sneh Rana, and Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Interestingly, all three players were part of the Indian Women’s team that clinched the 2025 ODI World Cup.

Vaishnavi Sharma Shines In Her India Debut Series

Vaishnavi Sharma made her international debut for India in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka. In her first match, she delivered a tight spell, finishing with figures of 0/16 from four overs. She claimed her first wickets in the second game, taking 2/32.

Continuing her consistent form, she bowled economically in the third T20I with 0/14 from three overs, followed by 2/24 and 1/33 in the fourth and fifth matches, respectively. Across the series, she ended as one of the joint highest wicket-takers, alongside Deepti Sharma, Shree Charani, and Kavisha Dilhari, with five wickets at an average of 23.80 and an economy rate of 6.26.

Vaishnavi earned her spot in the national team thanks to her impressive performances in domestic and U-19 cricket. She was the top wicket-taker at the U19 Women’s World Cup 2025, claiming 17 wickets in six matches at an average of 4.35 and an economy rate of 3.36. She also played a key role in the final against South Africa, taking 2/23 to help India lift the trophy.

Additionally, she led the wickets tally in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2025 with 21 wickets from 11 matches and was the joint highest wicket-taker in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy 2025, claiming 12 scalps from five games.
