Australia clean swept New Zealand as it ended their perfect summer at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia who had a 2-0 lead in the series came into the Sydney test with high aspirations.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat in the Sydney Test hoping to complete the Aussie summer on a high. It started of well as David Warner and opener Joe Burns started off cautiously and played off the first spell.

The injury struck kiwis then tried to dent the Aussie batting lineup and where only successful until they got the wicket of openers David Warner and Joe Burns, after that it was all the games played by Marnus Labuschange and Steven Smith.

Smith got out for 63 but it was Marnus Labuschange who kept going and scored his maiden double century which finished a fantastic Aussie summer for the youngster.

Australia finished the first innings at 454, which was a hard task for the young kiwi batting line up who didn”t have the experience of Kane Williamson.

Only Glenn Phillips could get to a milestone as New Zealand got out for 256, which saved the kiwis from a follow on. But a lead of 198 runs was never going to be easy.

Australia came back and declared at 217 which meant New Zealand needed 416 to win. They were never incharge of the chase and lost quick wickets in the start and eventually got all out for 136.

Which meant Australia completed the perfect summer with a win in Sydney which also meant that they consolidated their position in the World Test Championship and got close to India in the points table with 296 points.

Meanwhile in the test, Ross Taylor became the highest run etter in test matches for New Zealand after he surpassed former captain and Kiwi legend Stephen Fleming .

Nathan Lyon also became the first aussie bowler to take a five wicket haul against all the test playing nations after he ran through the Kiwi batting line up in the first innings.

The kiwis have  a lot of work to do as they face India in a two-match test series in the World Test championship.
