Watch – Navdeep Saini Removes Will Pucovski To Pick His Maiden Test Wicket

Navdeep Saini redeemed himself after tea as he gave his side the much-needed breakthrough. The Team India fast bowler looked ordinary in his first few overs but came back strongly after the break. Saini trapped debutant Will Pucovski right in front and ended a 100 runs partnership between him and Marnus Labuschagne.

The debutant Pucovski was racing towards his debut hundred before Navdeep Saini bowled the perfect delivery to him and sent him to the pavilion. Pucovski planted his front foot across even before Saini delivered the ball and ended up playing all around it. The ball nipped in slightly which was enough to miss the bat of Pucovski and he was adjudged out LBW.

Saini was ecstatic after taking his maiden Test match as all India players gathered around him to celebrate his special moment. Pucovski will be disappointed about not being able to score a Test debut ton which would have put him in an elite list.

Meanwhile, Smith and Labuschagne are currently consolidating the Australian innings. The star Aussie batsmen are slowly but surely taking the match away from India. Indian bowlers need a couple of wickets before the end of the day 1 to make it an even day 1 of the third Test match.

The onus is currently on Ravichandran Ashwin who thus far has dominated Australia’s batting especially Steve Smith. The spinner has had the wood over Smith in this series as he has dismissed him 3 times in 4 knocks. On the other hand, Labuschagne is carrying on his merry way and has registered a well-compiled half-century.

Furthermore, Australia is currently 154 for the loss of 2 wickets with another 8 overs remaining on Day 1 of the third Test at SCG.
