Nayan Doshi, the son of former India spinner Dilip Doshi has become the oldest player to register for IPL 2021 auction. At 42 years of age Doshi is part of the list published by BCCI of 1097 players to register for IPL 2021 auction. Nayan Doshi is an unknown name and understandably didn’t create a buzz like many other players in the IPL auction list.
Names such as S Sreesanth and Arjun Tendulkar caught the eye of everyone but Nayan Doshi ended up creating a record. Born in Nottingham, Nayan Doshi is now 42 and will fight with some of the best Indian and overseas cricketers in the race to obtain an IPL contract. If Doshi becomes part of an IPL team in the auction he will become the oldest ever player to ever feature in the biggest T20 league in the world.
Nayan Doshi Oldest Player To Register For IPL 2021 Auction
“I am ready, and I am bowling the best. I love the game, and I want a chance to prove myself again. When it comes to cricket, I want my dad to see and check (how I am performing). I decided in January that I am going to start playing again. My dad gave me a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t take too many opinions. My dad being my dad, if I wasn’t bowling up to the mark, he would just say ‘don’t do this”, Nayan Doshi said to Sportskeeda.

Meanwhile, it won’t be straightforward for Nayan Doshi as the list of 1097 players will be cropped to roughly 200-300 players and the names of only 50-60 players will be announced during the much anticipated IPL mini-auction. Doshi remains optimistic and is looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the IPL again.
Interestingly the 42-year-old has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in past IPL seasons. Overall in his T20 career, the left-arm spinners have picked 68 scalps in 52 matches.
