New Zealand Opt Out Of U-19 World Cup Due To Quarantine Restrictions

New Zealand will not take part in the ICC Under 19 World Cup which is all set to be held in the West Indies in the coming year 2022. The Blackcaps have windward themselves from the Mega event due to the quarantine restrictions which are mandatory for all teams participating. Scotland will replace New Zealand in the tournament.

Scotland will be a part of Group D, with other teams like West Indies, Australia, and Sri Lanka. The tournament is scheduled to get underway on 14th January 2022 in less than 2 months from now. We’ll see Australia and West Indies face each other in the opening match of the U-19 World Cup.

Caribbean Island to host the U19 T20 World Cup

This is the first time that the U19 World Cup will be played in the Caribbean in its 14 edition history. The Indian side is placed in Group B, with teams like Uganda, Ireland, and South Africa. The two semifinal matches of the tournament will be played on February 1st and 2nd respectively.

The tournament will be played on 10 different cricket grounds across 4 different countries. The four countries are Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Guyana, and Antigua.

The final is scheduled for February 5, 2022. Defending champions Bangladesh are in Group A alongside England, Canada, and UAE. Four-time champions India are grouped alongside South Africa, Ireland, and Uganda. while Afghanistan, Pakistan, PNG, and Zimbabwe compose Group C.

Group A– Bangladesh, England, Canada, United Arab Emirates

Group B– India, Ireland, South Africa, Uganda

Group C– Afghanistan, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe

Group D – Australia, Scotland, Sri Lanka, West Indies
