Sunrisers Hyderabad received a major boost ahead of IPL 2025 as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has cleared his fitness test. The young cricketer had been out of action since January due to a side strain but has now fully recovered. According to PTI, Nitish successfully passed all required fitness assessments, including the yo-yo test, at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. With approval from the board’s physios, he is now ready to rejoin the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for the upcoming season.
Recovery and Return to Competitive Cricket
The 21-year-old Andhra cricketer last played for India in the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens on January 22. However, he did not get a chance to bat or bowl in that match. He trained in the nets ahead of the second T20I in Chennai but was later ruled out of the series due to his injury.
His absence was felt, but he dedicated himself to rehabilitation and training to regain full fitness. Nitish’s return is a significant boost for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who retained him for ₹6 crore before last year’s IPL auction.
Impressive Performances and Upcoming IPL 2025 Season
Nitish Kumar Reddy was a standout performer for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, scoring 303 runs in 13 matches with an impressive strike rate of 143. His performances caught the selectors’ attention, leading to his inclusion in India’s tour of Australia, where he made valuable contributions, including a resilient 114 in the fourth Test at Melbourne.
Now fit and ready, Nitish is set to join the SRH squad as they prepare for their IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 in Hyderabad. His return strengthens the team’s batting and all-round options, making him a key player for upcoming season.
