Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar is the latest to join the debate on Rohit Sharma fitness saga. The Indian batsman was initially included in the Indian squad to travel to Australia but was asked not to at the last moment. He was asked to travel back to India and prove his fitness to be allowed to go to Australia.

Seeing all the ruckus going around Rohit’s fitness, Manjrekar has said that there is zero clarity over the fitness of the senior Indian batsman. While speaking to a Pakistan YouTube channel named CricCast, Majrekar said that there is no clarity over Rohit Sharma’s fitness.

“There’s zero clarity on the issue of Rohit Sharma’s fitness. I am sure there must be a stand of BCCI and similarly that of Rohit. And when people don’t get information then speculation arise. So, I absolutely have no clarity whatsoever what’s going on there”.

Though a jumbo squad has been announced for India’s Tour of Australia, Manjrekar feels that several other Indian players will end up joining the side in the middle of the series. Sanjay Manjrekar said that insecurities over COVID-19 will be one of the major reasons due to this.

“When a team is announced for a big tour, like the one of Australia where the Indian team will be there for almost three-four months, we think that is the squad that will be playing. However, as we are talking, slowly and slowly we will get to see that, by the end of the tour, many of the players who are there in India, they would have played in Australia,” said the former India batsman.

Meanwhile, the Indian team has reached Australia and are staying under quarantine at the moment. The Indian team can also train during their quarantine period after the New South Wales Government provided their approval. They will be training at the Blacktown International Sports Park, which has also been turned into a bio-secure venue.
