The outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus had a toll on all the sporting activities across the globe including the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to postpone the league until April 15 which was scheduled to commence from March 29.
Going by the latest reports, Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI is waiting for the Indian Government and the Sports Ministry to come out with an official statement on visas. The board officials are likely to sit with the franchise officials and forward their decision to them when the 21-day lockdown ends on April 14 which also has a chance of extending further.

While the speculations continue to rife, Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Sandeep Sharma also confirmed that there has been no communication from BCCI and the franchise regarding the fate of IPL 2020.
“We have received no communication from the BCCI or the franchise about when IPL will take place. The last communication was about the postponement of the IPL till April 14,” Sandeep said to Indian Express online.

Furthermore, Sandeep Sharma also admitted that the break is likely to affect the game of the cricketers. An architect of swing bowling, Sharma will hope to have a good time in the IPL and aim to slot back in the Indian team. So far, Sandeep has scalped 95 wickets in 79 IPL matches.
“The month-long break will not only affect the game of a bowler, but batsmen will also struggle to get back their touch. Now the challenge after the lockdown would be to get into shape and get ample match practice,” he said.
