The eagerly awaited ODI World Cup, which will take place in India, is set to begin in October, more than three months from now. Although the fans are enthusiastic about the tournament, they are more interested in learning the official schedule first.
The official schedule is reportedly going to be unveiled the following week, but the draft was already made public.
The ICC, according to sources, will announce the tournament schedule on Tuesday, June 27, at an event in Mumbai. The event starts at 11:30 a.M. Furthermore, the tournament’s October start date will be 100 days from today, on June 27, 2016.
Notably, earlier this month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) forwarded a draft schedule to the International Cricket Council (ICC), who then forwarded it to the other participating nations.
The tournament’s opening game will take place on October 5 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium between the winners of the 2019 edition, New Zealand and England. On October 8, India will play Australia in Chennai to open their campaign.
The explosive India vs. Pakistan match, which will be India’s third game in the round-robin ten-team league stage, is scheduled to take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad.
On October 11 in Delhi, the Men in Blue will face Afghanistan in their second game.
Pakistan will play its league games at five different venues, compared to India’s nine locations across the nation. The semifinals’ locations have not yet been determined, though.
Those elimination matches are most likely to take place on November 15 and 16. On November 19 in Ahmedabad, the tournament’s championship match will take place.
