New Zealand began their T20 World Cup campaign on a positive note, defeating defending champion Australia by an 89-run margin in Group 1. Since 2011, New Zealand has not defeated Australia in any format at all. The bowlers put up a team effort as opener Devon Conway scored a game-winning knock of 92 runs* from 58 balls.

The ICC shared a video of Boult practising his stroke on Instagram. Beginning by comparing him with India skipper Rohit Sharma, the ICC added fascinating labels on each of Boult’s shots in the film.

Trent Boult, one of the greatest bowlers in history, was spotted having a lengthy session in the nets while using his willow ahead of the team’s upcoming game against Afghanistan on Wednesday.

With their convincing victory over Australia, New Zealand made their ambitions regarding the pursuit of their first ICC World Cup trophy apparent. The Kiwis seem eager to win Australia’s World Cup trophy after missing out on the last two competitions.

The fact that top batting all-arounder Daryl Mitchell, who missed the opener match due to injury, back gives them even more of a chance.

Boult is a key member of New Zealand’s arsenal because he has performed admirably for them over the previous ten years in the major ICC competitions. He has developed a potent bowling combination with Tim Southee with the new ball. In order for New Zealand to win the T20 World Cup, the two pacers must be at the top of their games.

“We go back a long way to under-age group cricket” – Tim Southee on his relationship with Trent Boult

Tim Southee and Trent Boult have been shouldering New Zealand’s bowling duties for a long time. They know each other very well, having played together since age-group cricket. Throwing light on his relationship with Boult, Southee said:

“We go back a long way to under-age group cricket. We have played for the same domestic side, U19s, and then, for the last ten years or so, bowling in all three formats for New Zealand.”

“We know each other pretty well, have a pretty good friendship as well, not only as a cricketer but as a person, that helps as well. The whole right arm-left arm combination, we complement each other pretty well. It’s been nice to have someone you know at the other end and get to understand what you are trying to work towards as well,” Southee said.
