Veteran Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane celebrates his 34th birthday today, June 6. His colleagues and former cricketers such as the likes of Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and others, took to social media to share wishes for the right-handed batter.

Despite his batting struggles recently, Ajinkya Rahane has a brilliant record for India in Test matches. He has scored two centuries, in 82 test matches, scoring 4931 runs at an average of 38.52. The 34-year-old is known to be a crisis man, who thrives in difficult situations.

Last year, Ajinkya led India to a historic series win against the hosts Australia. He slammed a century in the boxing-day Test match at the Gabba, to script a comeback for the Indian team in the test series. The Mumbai batter’s other famous Test knocks include 103 at Lords in 2014, 147 at Melbourne in 2014, and twin-hundreds against South Africa at home.

Recently, Rahane suffered an injury while batting against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. It was revealed that he has a tendon tear in his left hamstring. The injury has ruled him out of action for at least eight weeks.

Here are some of the birthday wishes from the cricket fraternity for Ajinkya Rahane:

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag termed Ajinkya Rahane as “one of the most underrated cricketers”. He wrote, One of the most underrated cricketers, and the man who led India to it’s greatest ever overseas Test series win. Happy Birthday @ajinkyarahane88. May God give you the strength to fight every challenge”

Ajinkya Rahane’s team-mate Cheteshwar Pujara too wished the Mumbai batter on his 34th birth anniversary. Pujara wrote, A very happy birthday brother @ajinkyarahane88 Wishing you happiness and success in the coming year. Enjoy your day!”

“I will keep trying” – Ajinkya Rahane on the possibility of a comeback to the Indian team

Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from the Indian test team for the home series against Sri Lanka, following his inconsistent run in the format. The right-hander did not have a great outing in the Indian Premier League 2022 for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He was not considered for selection in the Mumbai squad for the Ranji knockouts due to his injury.

However, Rahane has expressed that he will keep trying and won’t give up. The veteran batter added that he loves playing and will continue to do so.

“Nobody can predict what will happen in the future. I will keep trying, won’t give up ever and whether I will get the opportunity or not, I love playing and will continue doing that,” said Ajinkya Rahane at the launch of the ‘Bando Mein Hai Dum’ series trailer.
