As per reports in Sportstar, former Indian cricketer Paras Mhambrey is likely to be the coach of the Indian Cricket team travelling to Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series. Rahul Dravid will also travel with the team as per reports. Initially, it was expected that Dravid might well coach the team but this latest reports from Sportstar comes with a piece of new information. Mhambrey has played 2 Tests and 3 ODIs after making his debut for India in1996. Meanwhile, it is also reported that former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid will travel with the team. 

According to the itinerary by SLC – which the BCCI has agreed to – the ODI series is set to begin on July 13 after the team completes its mandatory week-long quarantine. The T20I series will be played between July 22 and 27. All the games will be played at Colombo’s Premadasa stadium. 

“We plan to host the entire series at one venue. As of now, it has been decided that the Premadasa Stadium will host the fixtures. Obviously, it depends on how the situation is around that time,” Professor Arjuna de Silva, SLC’s Administrative Committee chairman, told Sportstar on Monday.

Paras Mhambrey Likely To Coach India In Sri Lanka

Team India will be playing the final of the World Test Championship in Southampton from June 18-22. Then they are scheduled to play against Sri Lanka for three ODIs and five T20Is. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will be playing 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs against Eoin Morgan’s side in England and the tour comes to an end on July 4. Meanwhile, the test series between India and England also starts from August 4. Therefore the dates have been worked accordingly and the series will now be played between July 13 to 27.

Sri Lanka successfully hosted England and Bangladesh recently and De Silva is confident things will go smoothly against India, which is set to tour the country after three years, as well.

“It has, however, been clarified that the entire tournament will be played in empty stadiums. “With the COVID situation fluid, we cannot allow fans yet, so all the matches will be closed-door affairs,” De Silva said.
