Meanwhile, under Azhar Ali, Pakistan struggled in overseas conditions and wasn’t able to earn the tag of a successful Test side. Plus the batting form of Azhar too faded away and he looked a pale shadow of himself. However, he did score a fighting hundred against England in the last Test this year but PCB has now made their star batsman Babar Azam their new Test skipper.
Today PCB confirmed the news of appointing Babar Azam as Test skipper on it’s official Twitter handle. Babar’s first assignment as Test leader will a difficult one when his side tours New Zealand for a 2 Test match series later this year.
“Babar Azam has been appointed as Pakistan Test captain, which now makes him the captain across all three formats. His first assignment will be to captain Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship fixtures against New Zealand,” wrote PCB.
