The former skipper of the Pakistan Cricket Team Younis Khan is appointed as the batting coach for the upcoming England tour. Alongside Younis Khan, the apex board has named Mushtaq Ahmed as the team’s spin bowling coach and mentor for the three-Test and three-T20I series. The series is set to be played in August-September.
The duo will join the head coach Misbah Ul Haq and Waqar Younis, who are regular travellers with the team. The addition of Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed will certainly help the young squad of Pakistan, who hardly know about the conditions of England.
Younis Khan’s game awareness is invaluable – Wasim Khan
Speaking of the same, the PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan said that the young team will reap rich benefits with the presence of Mushtaq Ahmed and Younis Khan in the team. The duo is completely aware of English conditions.
“Younis’ work ethics, commitment to match preparation, game awareness and tactics in the English conditions will be invaluable. Mushtaq knows the English conditions as well as anyone, having spent a lot of time playing county cricket and working with the England cricket team,” PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan said.
“The Pakistan side includes some immensely talented cricketers who have the potential to achieve greater heights. Together with Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed and Waqar Younis, we will try to make them better and prepare them as best as we can with on and off-field coaching and guidance,” Younis said.
Well, it seems like a brilliant move, as Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed have good records in England. Younis, in particular, played over the average of 50 and also has experience of playing for a county side. On the other hand, Mushtaq Ahmed knows how England team works, as he has been part of them for a while.
