Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is one of the most feared bowlers of all time. His aggression matched with his raw pace sent nightmares to the batsmen during his playing days. However, recently Shoaib Akhtar named the bravest batsman he ever bowled to.

Pakistan have a rich history of producing world-class fast bowlers and Akhtar carried the tradition forward. Bowling at a raw pace, the Rawalpindi Express has terrified batters all across the globe. He also is the record-holder of the fastest ball ever bowled in the history of the game.

Sourav Ganguly is the bravest batsman: Shoaib Akhtar

While Shoaib Akhtar scared most of the batsmen he bowled, the former Pakistani picked Sourav Ganguly as the bravest batsman he ever bowled to. Akhtar said even after getting hit so many times, the former India skipper came out to bat as an opener and leading the baton for his side.

“Many people think that Ganguly was coward and scared to face me as a bowler. But, according to me, he was the bravest batsman I ever bowled to in my career. He doesn’t have many shots, I tried to hit him on chest many times, but he still came as an opener and faced me like a brave guy and scored runs. He was a courageous captain for Team India”, Akhtar said during an interaction on Helo app.

Meanwhile, Akhtar’s love affair with Bengal and Kolkata Knight Riders dates back to 2008. Shoaib Akhtar played under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. Recently, during that same conversation, Akhtar picked Ganguly as the best Indian skipper.

“If we see from India, my favourite captain is Sourav Ganguly, there’s no better captain than him from India. MS Dhoni was superb captain as well. During the 1990s, I never saw India as a winning team whenever they played against us.

But, when Sourav became a captain in 2000s, I thought that the Indian team has the talent to beat Pakistan team and they did it. He brought transformation to the Indian team. Bengali people are courageous, gutsy and they can lead from the forefront, I love Bengali people,” said Akhtar when asked about his favourite captain,” Shoaib Akhtar added.
