PCB Offers Full Refund For Two Rain-hit Champions Trophy Games

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a full refund for tickets of matches that were washed out during the ongoing Champions Trophy. In an official statement, the PCB confirmed that refunds will be provided for two abandoned games where no play was possible.

The South Africa vs Australia match in Rawalpindi was called off due to persistent rain, while the Pakistan vs Bangladesh clash also suffered the same fate.

A PCB statement read, “The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a full ticket refund for the two ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches that were abandoned without a ball being bowled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The affected matches include Australia vs South Africa on 25 February and Bangladesh vs Pakistan on 27 February.”

According to the PCB’s policy, tickets for the Afghanistan vs Australia match will not be refunded since the game was abandoned during the second innings while Australia were batting. Rawalpindi has come under heavy criticism for its poor drainage system.

The PCB invested a significant amount in renovating the three Champions Trophy venues. However, during the AFG vs AUS match, persistent rain halted play, and ground staff were seen using mops and sponges in an attempt to dry the field. Despite their efforts, the match was eventually called off, with both teams sharing a point.

Security Lapses Raise Concerns in Champions Trophy

Apart from India’s matches, which are being played in Dubai, the rest of the tournament is taking place in Pakistan. Security concerns have also emerged after a fan managed to bypass security and enter the field during the New Zealand vs Bangladesh match.

The PCB later assured that they would closely review the incident and strengthen security measures. However, another breach occurred in Lahore during the Afghanistan vs England game, raising further concerns over safety protocols.
