Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore are all set to face Mumbai Indians in the season opener of IPL 2021 in Chennai on April 9. Like every tear, RCB under Kohli comes into the contest with a lot of hope and positivity. However, none of that works wonders as they do not play to their potential and hence do not make it to the last four more often than not. Last season, they did make it to the playoffs losing the Eliminator to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, addressing the press conference ahead of their first game, Virat Kohli feels players are more match-ready this year for the IPL as they have got used to the life of bio-bubble plus the cricketers have a considerable amount of game time which they were devoid of prior to IPL 2020.

“Last time we got together way before the tournament started. So things probably were not as smooth as they are now. There is not much worry about whether people are gonna be bowling or batting well,” said Kohli.

“They have played a lot of cricket coming into this IPL. And they have gotten used to playing in this environment but as I said having had enough game time in the recent past, certainly gonna help players be more match ready this year than probably would have been the case last time,” he added.

RCB are way behind Mumbai Indians in their IPL head to head count. Out f the 27 matches played, Mumbai have won 17 while Banglore have won just nine. One game was tied between both sides.

Rohit Sharma taking on Virat Kohli is an exciting prospect for an IPL season opener. Premier players of their respective franchises both players are raring to go. Winning the season is a bigger goal that the players will set for themselves. Both the players hate losing and hating losing to each other.

However, RCB especially does not enjoy a good success rate at this venue and against Mumbai, it comes down to 37.04 percent.
