Prabhsimran Singh

Punjab opener Prabhsimran Singh showed his class during the last day of league matches of the 2023 DY Patil tournament. He smashed 161 not out of 55 deliveries for CAG against Income Tax on 22nd February 2023.

It was a remarkable knock by Singh who smashed 17 sixes in his brilliant innings that helped CAG to post a massive total of 267 in 20 overs. CAG won that match by a massive 115 runs.

The right-handed explosive bat showed immense talent in his innings of 161 runs. He smashed 17 fours and 9 sixes during that brilliant knock. Due to his brilliance, CAG posted a mammoth total of 267 which proved too much for the Income Tax team. The Team Income Tax could only post 152 for 9 and won the match easily.

With the Indian Premier League season 16 about to start on 31 March, his innings could see Prabhsimran play well and statement for other teams to watch out for. Singh plays for Punjab Kings and will look to win their first title since its inception in 2008.

Singh has been in sensational form for Punjab in the 2022/23 Ranji Trophy season. He made 537 runs from 8 matches (10 innings) with 2 centuries and 1 half-century with the best score of 202. He showed his attacking abilities in the first innings of the quarterfinals against Saurashtra with a quickfire century but could not help Punjab progress into the top 4 stages.

Prabhsimran Singh’s career in IPL and performance in SMAT 2022

Singh made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings in 2019. He has just played 6 matches so far with 64 runs with the highest score of 66.

Singh has been retained by the Punjab Kings franchise for the 2023 edition. He would be looking to provide attacking skills and make sure that PBKS can create a major impact on the matches.

He played 41 T20 matches for Punjab and scored 1156 runs at a strike rate of 137.94. Singh was the third leading run-getter in the 2022 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 320 runs from 10 matches ( 9 innings) with 4 half-centuries and the best score of 80 not out.

It will be interesting to see if the Punjab Kings franchise would give him a chance to play XI and also Singh can replicate his brilliant form during this edition.
