The BCCI has announced the squads for New Zealand and Bangladesh tours on Monday, October 31. In New Zealand, the T20 and ODI captaincy has been given to Hardik Pandya and Shikar Dhawan, respectively. For the Bangladesh tour, we see the return of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in the roles of captain and vice-captain, respectively.

There have been some notable omissions from the white ball squads. These include Prithvi Shaw, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Rana and Sarfaraz Khan. The cricketers were seen sharing cryptic stories after their omission.

Prithvi Shaw, Khan and Bishnoi were among the biggest surprises of not making it into the squads. Shaw is consistently performing on the domestic circuit. Bishnoi was a regular pick until the T20 World Cup.

Shaw, via his Instagram, shared a story that said, “Hope you are watching everything Sai Baba.”

“Comeback is always stronger than setback,” shared Bishnoi via Instagram.

Umesh Yadav, who made his T20 comeback against Australia, has again been selected for the test series and none of the white ball tours. He wrote in his story:

“May be you can fool me but God is watching you mind that.”

Nitish Rana, who made his India debut in Sri Lanka last year and is performing well in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, wrote, “H= Hold, O= On, P= Pain, E= Ends.”

Prithvi Shaw continues to wait for his opportunity

Prithvi Shaw has been criticised for his fitness for the past few years. He captained Mumbai in the Ranji trophy this year. He has consistently scored runs that include two centuries, one in the Duleep trophy against East Zone and the other in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy against Assam. He made his debut back in 2018 and was the youngest person to score a Test century on debut.

Since then, Shaw has derailed. He failed to perform on tour to Sri Lanka last year. Does the question arise when he gets his chance to return on the international stage, given the city throat competition for his slot?
