He uploaded an image of his injured leg and wrote, ‘People lend a hand when you’re on the rise, but often withdraw it when you stumble down the stairs.’ Shaw’s outstanding performance included scoring 244 against Somerset during his short stint with Northamptonshire.
Unfortunately, he suffered the injury shortly after the match, and reports suggest he will need at least two months to fully recover. He also showcased his talent with an unbeaten 125 off 76 balls against Durham on August 13, contributing to Northamptonshire’s six-wicket victory.
Northamptonshire media released a statement: “Prithvi injured his knee while fielding in the fixture against Durham and subsequent scan results received this morning have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected,”
In the One-Day Cup 2023, the 23-year-old Shaw left a strong impact while playing briefly for the Steelbacks, accumulating a total of 429 runs across four innings. His impressive run-scoring performance featured a remarkable 244 runs off 153 deliveries against Somerset on August 9, guiding Northants to an impressive 87-run triumph.
Northamptonshire’s head coach, John Sadler, expressed significant regret over the departure of a talent like Shaw. Sadler mentioned, “During his brief time with us, Prithvi has left a significant mark on our team. It’s truly unfortunate that he won’t be part of our squad for the rest of this tournament.”
