PSL 2024: Naseem Shah Sustained A 10% Fine Of His Match Fees For Kicking The Stumps

Islamabad United’s fast bowler, Naseem Shah, received a 10 percent fine of his match fees for violating the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Code of Conduct during the Rawalpindi match against Multan Sultans on Sunday.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama found Shah guilty of a Level 1 breach, and Shah accepted the charges. The breach occurred when Shah kicked the stumps at the conclusion of the first innings, where Multan set a formidable total of 228-4.

The charge pertained to violating Article 2.2, which addresses the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings. The right-arm pacer delivered a commendable final over, maintaining tight control despite the preceding batting onslaught.

He conceded just nine runs, concluding with impressive figures of 1-31 on a challenging flat pitch. Guided by half-centuries from Colin Munro and captain Shadab Khan, Islamabad United remained competitive in the run chase.

A late surge by Imad Wasim ultimately led the team to a thrilling last-ball three-wicket triumph. This exciting victory propelled the franchise to the second position in the table, concluding their league-stage campaign.

Colin Munro had a remarkable season with the bat, accumulating 309 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 139.18. Meanwhile, Naseem Shah emerged as the leading wicket-taker for the franchise, claiming 10 wickets in eight appearances.

“We know they’re match winners and they showed it” -Shadab Khan’s remarks after Islamabad United advances to PSL 2024 playoffs

Islamabad United secured a playoff spot for the fourth consecutive occasion and aims to clinch their first title since 2018, aspiring to become the initial franchise to win the PSL championship three times.

“The way we back players, we know they’re match winners and they showed it. It was a proper Pindi pitch. Haven’t been able to finish matches, but the way we finished it off today is a good sign,” skipper Shadab Khan said following the win.

The final position of Islamabad United in the points table for the 2024 PSL will be determined by the remaining couple of league-stage matches.
