Suryakumar Yadav started off his career as one of those players who failed to come in the notice of the crowd as well as the selectors. Yadav silently played his knocks, would provide those flashy cameos and get dwarfed by the bigger stars in the 1st half of his career. A major reason for that was his stint with KKR where he batted down the order not getting more than 10-20 deliveries in most of the games he got to play in major part of his IPL Career with KKR.

Everything changed in a big way when he donned the Mumbai Indians T-Shirt 2 years back, he got the chance to bat at the top of the order, he opened the innings, he showed his batting cavalry with wide range of shots, he showed temperament as well as his 360* ability with the bat which made him an instant star, the kind of fame which eluded him for years despite having the potential. Ever since his debut for Mumbai Indians, his fortunes have changed, he has played consistently for Mumbai in the domestic circuit since then, he got the much deserved India “A” call up where he toured New Zealand in 2020 and now he adds one more feather to his cap bringing up his maiden T20 Hundred in the DY Patil T20 Tournament.

Batting for BPCL at the DY Patil University, Suryakumar Yadav coming at no.3 went on to score a blazing 117 in mere 54 balls while his hundred came off mere 49 balls. Surya was literally toying with the Central Railway bowlers smashing 10 sixes and 7 fours covering every corner of the ground with superlative ease. It was on the back of his ton, BPCL reached a score of 233/7 in 20 overs and won the match vs Central Railway by 73 runs.
