Riyan Parag smashes 2nd fastest century in Ranji Trophy history

The stylish right-handed batter Riyan Parag smashed the 2nd fastest century in Ranji Trophy history. He achieved this remarkable feat during the 4th day of 1st round match against Chhattisgarh on 8th January 2024.

Assam captain Riyan Parag led from the front with a breath-taking knock in the 2nd innings after being asked to follow on by Chhattisgarh. Parag looked impressive putting the bowlers under pressure. Assam ended the 3rd day at 171 for 5 with the captain remaining not out on 82.

Parag came to the crease hitting boundaries and sixes at will keeping the momentum going for Assam. He completed the 2nd fastest century in Ranji Trophy history off 56 deliveries. After completing his milestone, Parag kept the momentum going for Assam not allowing the Chhattisgarh bowlers to settle. His innings came to an end at the score of 155 off 87 deliveries with 11 fours and 12 sixes. The other Assam batters struggled as they were bowled out for 254.

Assam set Chhattisgarh’s 87-run target in the second innings. Eknath Kerkar and Rishabh Tiwari completed the job as Chhattisgarh won the match by 10 wickets earning 7 points.

Riyan Parag smashed 2ndĀ fastest century in Ranji Trophy history

Riyan Parag proved his worth with a breath-taking knock in the 2nd innings. He registered the 2nd player to register the 2nd fastest century in Ranji Trophy history and made sure that Assam did not suffer an innings defeat. Despite his performances, Assam lost the first-round match to Chhattisgarh by 10 wickets and would be hoping to do well in the upcoming Ranji Trophy matches.

The captain led from the front with his explosive batting after being asked to follow on. Riyan Parag could only score 8 runs in the first innings. Rishabh Pant scored the fastest century in Ranji Trophy history off 48 balls against Jharkhand in 2016 at Trivandrum.

Riyan Parag was released from the Rajasthan Royals squad from the 2024 IPL squad. His knock reminded me that he could play with an attacking approach and help their franchise register victory.
