India under head coach Ravi Shastri has now reached the final of the World Test Championship after beating England in the fourth Test in Ahmedabad. Test series win against Australia and now making it to the final of the WTC remains Shastri’s two biggest achievements as head coach of Team India. India will face New Zealand in the final, the same side to which they lost in the 2019 World semi-final.

Meanwhile, despite the success of Team India under Ravi Shastri, he has always been the target of the Indian fans. He has been repeatedly trolled on social media and has been abused left, right, and center by Indian cricket fans. After India’s qualification, Shastri decided to give it back to his trolls in the post-match interaction.

He said that it does not bother him as much and he sees it as pure entertainment. He even asked his trolls to have a few drinks on his name, a statement that has triggered social media.

Have A Drink On My Name: Ravi Shastri

“It’s banter all the way. They do it to have fun. It’s at my expense, but it’s okay. Have a drink on my name. When you post that kind of thing, so many people have a laugh. Enjoy, it doesn’t affect me. In cricket, if you are playing well and succeeding, people will be happy with you, and when you are not winning, you have to face some kicks and slaps,” Ravi Shastri said during a press conference a day after India wrapped up a 3-1 series win against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The series will now enter into its white-ball leg with England playing five T20Is in Ahmedabad followed by three ODIs in Pune. The T20I series will start on March 12. Meanwhile, Lord’s might not host the WTC final as per a report in TOI. Lord’s was the venue scheduled to host the final but it could miss out on hosting the all-important game owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

ICC will be advised by the England Cricket Board (ECB) on the matter before a final call is taken on the venue for the WTC final.
