Ravi Shastri Trend On Twitter As Prithvi Shaw’s Poor Run Continues

Team India opener Prithvi Shaw received severe criticism following his poor run with the bat in the ongoing Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. Following his dismissal in the second essay, India head coach Ravi Shastri was trending on the micro-blogging website Twitter for his recent comments where he compared Shaw to the likes of batting greats Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and Virender Sehwag.

The young batter from Mumbai came into this Test on the back of poor form scoring only 63 runs in the two warm-up games. His selection ahead of Shubman Gill in the playing XI for the pink-ball contest rang a few eyeballs including a couple of former cricketers. Although management showed trust in Prithvi Shaw but the right-handed batsman failed to live up to the expectations.

After getting out for a second-ball duck in the first innings, Shaw managed only four in the second innings before Pat Cummins unrattled his timber in the dying moments of day 2 in a similar fashion as Mitchell Starc did in first over of the Test. It was an inswinger nipping in from the good-length area. Prithvi Shaw didn’t get his feet moving and it left a massive gap between his bat and pad with his head falling over.

Meanwhile, India were left exposed to the new ball in the last few overs of day 2 after his dismissal but nightwatchman Jasprit Bumrah did enough to negate Starc and Cummins to keep their guard safe at the end of the day.

Ravi Shastri gets trolled on Twitter

Soon after Shaw got out, Team India head coach Ravi Shastri started trending on Twitter with fans taking a shot over his recent comments. Incidentally, Shastri has recently compared Prithvi Shaw to the likes of legends – Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and Virender Sehwag.

“There is a bit of Sachin there, there is a bit of Viru there, and when he walks, there is a bit of Lara there,” Ravi Shastri had said earlier.
