Former cricketer Ravi Shastri’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian team will end after the ICC T20 World Cup. There have already been speculations about the next head coach of the Indian team. While some have reported that Shastri will continue with his position, there are rumors about him not wanting to continue.
A BCCI official squashed the rumors and stated that Ravi Shastri would always want to continue as the head coach. However, his future depends on India’s performance in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in UAE.

Speaking to Jagran, the BCCI official said, “I don’t think Shastri doesn’t want to continue as head coach. He would always be keen on staying at the helm. But everything will depend on how team India performs in the T20 World Cup.”
Under Ravi Shastri, India has managed to achieve several feats at the International level. However, they have not been able to win an ICC event, after 2013.
Rahul Dravid doesn’t want to become the coach: BCCI official
Rahul Dravid was being looked at as the front-runner to replace Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian team. He has previously worked with the India A and the India U19 team.
The former India cricketer has also reapplied for the post of the head of BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Recently, Rahul Dravid toured with the Indian limited-overs team to Sri Lanka as the head coach in Ravi Shashtri’s absence.
However, according to the BCCI official, Rahul Dravid is unwilling to take up the full-time Head coach. “Yes, Dravid definitely doesn’t want to become the coach. He has hinted though that he wants to stay the head of the NCA only. BCCI respects his decision,” the BCCI official said.
