During the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the Pakistan cricket team is reportedly not “comfortable” playing some of the participating teams at specific venues. India’s Ravichandran Ashwin has voiced his opinions on the subject.
The 2023 ODI World Cup in India will feature a number of teams from around the world, including Afghanistan in Chennai and Australia in Bengaluru.
There have been reports that Pakistan’s cricket team is not “comfortable” playing some of these teams at specific venues, which prompted India’s spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to voice his opinions.
Pakistan is now expected to travel to India for the World Cup in October-November as a result of the resolution of the Asia Cup staging dispute.
According to Ashwin, the ICC would only consider Pakistan’s alleged request for a venue change if the side provided any “valid security reasons. “
It is significant to note that the ICC has not yet made the World Cup 2023 schedule available.
The intriguing Pakistani request to change the venue. Pakistan and Australia will now square off in Bangalore and Chennai, respectively. They want the locations changed.
The ICC will only take these requests into consideration if there is a security justification, according to Ashwin on his YouTube channel.
“Pakistan claims in their letter of request that Chennai’s climate will be favorable for Afghanistan. Pakistan benefits as a result of changing locations. Therefore, I don’t have much faith that the ICC will abide by this request. The seasoned India player continued, “Maybe if Pakistan has given some legitimate security reasons, then it might be shifted.”
Afghanistan’s opponents in Chennai’s spin-friendly stadium would be Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad, who excelled for Gujarat Titans in the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Because Bengaluru’s conditions are typically conducive to batting, it is difficult to understand why Pakistan would be concerned about playing Australia at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
