Chennai Super Kings got off to a stupendous start in match 8 of IPL 2021 against Punjab Kings. They are already four wickets down in the powerplay with Deepak Chahar taking three of them. Ravindra Jadeja took an outstanding catch to dismiss Chris Gayle. Gayle was the third wicket to fall for Punjab Kings who lost the openers in the first three two overs.

Chris Gayle was foxed by a knuckle delivery from Deepak Chahar. Gayle’s bat went ahead a bit early as the ball arrived late. The ball lobbed up just enough in the air for Ravindra Jadeja to complete the catch at covers.

Punjab Kings escaped a defeat in the first game but are already looking down the barrel in the second game against Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni bowled out Deepak Chahar inside the powerplay who ended his spell with four wickets.

MS Dhoni is playing his 200th IPL game for Chennai Super Kings. He has already won three IPL titles with the franchise and groomed a number of youngsters who went onto play for India. Deepak Chahar is a prime example of the bowlers who was groomed by the legend who then went onto play for India.

Chennai Super Kings did not reach the playoffs for the first time in IPL last season. It opened up a number of speculations about the side. Reactions poured in that the side might change their strategy however, it stuck with the process that it followed. They failed to win the first game of IPL 2021 against Delhi Capitals.

However, in this game, they have looked right in the money. MS Dhoni has been at his strategical best with his bowling changes and field placements which has yielded in five wickets in the first 8 overs.
