Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja’s love-hate relationship is nothing new. It reached the pinnacle when Manjrekar called Jadeja ‘bits and pieces cricketer’ during the ICC World Cup in 2019. Recently, the former India cricketer once again launched an attack on Jadeja and now, the latter has slammed back at him.
Manjrekar questioned Ravindra Jadeja’s place in the playing XI soon after India went down in the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Speaking about the selection process, Sanjay Manjrekar said that he does not like players who make it to the playing eleven without being a specialist in either batting or bowling.
“My selection and thoughts are based on a principle that I have learnt over the years: if you have specialists who can walk-in based on one discipline, you fill your team with those players,” Sanjay Manjrekar had told The Hindu.
“I do not have a problem with Jadeja; I have a problem with his kind of cricketers in white-ball cricket. Even Hardik Pandya will not be in my team. They add illusionary value to the team. Of course, I have always rated Jadeja highly in the Test format,” he had added.
Ravindra Jadeja takes indirect dig at Sanjay Manjrekar
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja is not someone who will shy away from giving back to his critics. The all-rounder from Rajkot had slammed back at Sanjay Manjrekar during the World Cup calling him verbal diarrhoea. However, this time around, Jadeja has posted a cryptic tweet taking a shot at the cricketer-turned commentator.
“Stay calm,” Ravindra Jadeja wrote on microblogging site Twitter along with a photo of himself.
