The first day of the inaugural edition of the Cricfit Premier League (CPL) 2021 saw some intense action at the Thakur Village Stadium. Real Yuva Arjun Cricket Academy U-14 and Celebration Sports Club U-14 shared points after both teams finished on 165 runs at the end of stipulated 20 overs.

Meanwhile, batting first, Arjun Cricket Academy got off to a flying start with openers Yashash Haniga and Shreyansh Rai seeing off the new ball. The Celebration Sports Club bowlers were wayward as the extras came by easily. The batters also slowly gained confidence and freed their hands and kept the scoreboard ticking.

The batting side added 63 runs for the first wicket before Celebration Sports Club removed both the openers in quick time. However, the runs kept coming as Arjun Kale mastered the ball all around the wicket while G Naragopal and V Shetty chipped in with useful contributions in the death overs to propel Real Yuva Arjun Cricket Academy to 165 runs at the end of 20 overs.

Real Yuva and Celebration Sports Club share points on day 1 of CPL 2021

While it looked like a difficult chase at the halfway mark, Celebration Sports Club made a steady start to the run chase. A Bele scored the bulk of the runs to add 65 runs for the opening stand before Arjun Bele drew the first blood in the 11th over for Real Yuva Arjun Cricket Academy.

The chasing team lost four wickets in a span of two overs to be at 68 for four from 65 for no loss. Since then, A Lohned and A Yadav stitched a crucial partnership to bring the equation down. With 137 for five in 17.2 overs, Celebration Sports Club were cruising through to victory before Real Yuva Arjun Cricket Academy pulled the brakes.

The game went to the wire before both teams shook hands for a draw. Arjun Kale was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round effort with both bat and ball.
