Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will shortly be in action in Sharjah against Rajasthan Royals. Delhi are in the second position in the points table at the moment and Pant has had a lot to do for Delhi being up there. He has played a few timely cameos for his side which has helped his side post-big-totals on the board or set the pace while chasing. In total, he has 171 runs in 5 matches at an average of 42. 75 so far in the tournament.

Meanwhile, former West Indian skipper Brian Lara seemed to be very impressed with the youngster. He even touted Rishabh Pant to be the successor of MS Dhoni in the Indian team. Now he believes, that the attacking wicket-keeper-batsman is a major asset for his team Delhi Capitals.

“I think he is a major asset for the Delhi Capitals, but today he has also vastly improved his game. I am talking about his batting and the improvements he made in that department. On what is immediately noticeable is his propensity to try and get everything to the leg-side.

Also, look at his run-scoring chart and that’s quite a proof of that fascination he has with the on-side. I think he has come to the realisation that this is not working and he went away and worked on improving his off-side play,” Lara said in Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.

Delhi has been one of the best teams in IPL 2020 so far. They have continued their good run from 2019. Last year they made it to the playoffs for the first time after seven years. They have been mostly securing themselves in the top half of the points table so far.

With Kagiso Rabada leading the pace attack and the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel stifling batsmen in the middle-overs, Delhi seems to have found the perfect formulae to win games in this IPL so far.
