Meanwhile. earlier the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri stressed on the availability of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma. Shastri had said that he wants both Australia-bound players as early as possible. However, it is unlikely to happen as things stand out now.

“He (Rohit) was never going to play the white-ball series, they were just looking to see how long he needed the rest, because you can’t afford to be resting for too long. If you need to play in the Test series or any red-ball cricket, you’ve got to be on the flight in the next three or four days. If you aren’t, then it’s going to be tough,” Shastri told ABC Sports.

Under Virat Kohli-led India had thumped Australia 2-1 in the Test series in 2018-19 to become the first team from Asia to register a Test triumph on Australian soil. However, this time around they are hindered by injury concerns to key players.

On top of it, the absence of Kohli in the final three Tests will be a major blow to the team’s aspirations down under. The team management is still trying to figure out the best possible replacement of Kohli for the final three Tests.
