Rohit Sharma Likely To Miss The ODIs And Tests Against New Zealand: Report

0

Team India is currently on cloud nine after registering a clean sweep against New Zealand in the T20I series. As they rejoice their victory, the Men in Blues are likely to receive a massive setback with star opening batsman Rohit Sharma set to miss the upcoming ODI and test series to follow.

Notably, the cricketer from Mumbai apparently injured his calf muscle while sneaking in a single. He got immediate medical attention and struck a six in the very next delivery. But decided to discontinue preventing further damage as he was not fit enough to run between the wickets. While KL Rahul had assured that Rohit Sharma will be fit for the ODI series but recent reports suggest that the dashing opener might miss the rest of the tour.

"Sources say @ImRo45 ruled out of ODIs and Tests against NZ due to injury sustained during final T20. I assume @mayankcricket is obvious in ODIs. Interesting @PrithviShaw gets his place back in time with #KLRahul, Shubmam Gill in loop," a report says.

Meanwhile, team India will be in deep trouble if Rohit Sharma fails to recover for the challenging series. They are already without Shikhar Dhawan, who is out with a shoulder injury he suffered during the series against Australia. While Sanju Samson replaced him in the T20Is, Prithvi Shaw got his maiden call in the ODIs. And now if Rohit also fails to recover, gates should open for either Mayank Agarwal or Shubhman Gill. However, it will be interesting to see who opens the inning in the absence of the vice-captain.
