Rohit Sharma Opens Up On Mumbai Indians Captaincy Loss To Hardik Pandya

Rohit Sharma recently spoke up about losing his captaincy for Mumbai Indians to Hardik Pandya. He acknowledged that things don’t always go as planned. This happened after a series of events where he lost his captaincy but was then named as Hardik’s deputy for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma is a very popular cricket player in India.

His removal as captain of Mumbai Indians came as a shock to many people, especially his fans. Some fans even booed Hardik Pandya when he first led the team in this year’s IPL matches.

“See, it is part of life. Not everything will go your way. It has been a great experience,”

During a press event, Rohit Sharma was questioned about his experience playing under Pandya in the current Indian Premier League.

There’s been speculation about Rohit’s relationship with Pandya and how Mumbai Indians managed the leadership change, which some felt wasn’t handled well, especially considering Rohit’s success leading the team to five IPL titles. Despite this, Rohit remained composed, stating that playing under Pandya is similar to playing under any other captain.

“Before (also), I have not been captain and I have played under a lot of captains. It is no different or new to me,” said Rohit.

He has experienced playing under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, and Virat Kohli while representing India, and has also been led by Adam Gilchrist, Harbhajan Singh, and Ricky Ponting in franchise cricket. Criticism came his way for his lack of runs over the past three seasons.

But eventually, in the 17th edition of the tournament, he appeared to have turned things around significantly.

“Whatever is there and you go by it and then try and do what is required from you as a player. I have only tried to do that in the last one month or so,” Rohit extinguished any potential controversy that the question might have sparked.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, has amassed 314 runs from 10 innings in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.
