Rohit Sharma Praises Suryakumar Yadav’s Fearless Batting Approach Against KKR

The Mumbai Indians skipper hailed his teammate's fearless batting approach.

Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for Mumbai Indians in their 1-0run win over Kolkata Knight Riders. His 56 off 36 balls took Mumbai to 152, a score which proved enough et the end. He added a crucial 76-run stand with Rohit which laid the platform for the big-hitters to cash in on a good start. Meanwhile, after the game, the Mumbai Indians skipper hailed his teammate’s fearless batting approach.

We Need Suryakumar Yadav To Bat Fearlessly: Rohit Sharma

“I think Yadav is carrying that form that he had when he played for India. He is very fearless when he bats. When he plays those shots, it doesn’t look like he’s taking risks. Those are cricketing shots. We need a guy who bats fearlessly,” said Rohit after the match.

Rohit Sharma further shared his viewpoint on the pitch that slowed down in the second innings and shot-making became difficult.

“Definitely, it is not easy on this pitch. A set batsman needs to carry on for as long as possible. The trend in Chennai is when the new batsman comes in, it becomes hard to go from ball one, unlike Wankhede,” added Rohit.

The Mumbai Indians skipper also lauded his bowlers for bringing the team back into the game. KKR needed 321 of the last five ovrs and the Mumbai bowlers made a match out of it as KKR finished 10 short of the target.

“Anyone who came to bowl at different stages wanted to put their hand up and do something for the team. We can take a lot of confidence from this game. There were lots of positives,” he said before singling out leg-spinner Rahul Chahar whose four for 27 included the top four batsmen of the KKR line-up.

“KKR batted brilliantly in the first six overs. But once the powerplay was gone, the way Rahul came and got wickets — that was crucial. And Krunal at the end was also crucial. I can praise all the bowlers, honestly,” he said.

KKR face RCB and CSK in their next two games while Mumbai Indians face SRH and DC in their next two encounters in the season.
