India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma recently presented a signed bat to young Mumbai talent and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ayush Mhatre. The 17-year-old made a strong impression during his debut IPL season in 2025, stepping in as a replacement for injured CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Mhatre played seven matches, amassing 240 runs at an average of 34.28 with an outstanding strike rate of 188.97. He notched up one half-century, with his highlight performance being a blazing 94 off 48 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). On Wednesday, June 18, Mhatre shared an Instagram post featuring a picture with Rohit Sharma, proudly holding the autographed bat.

Rohit Sharma was last seen playing in the 2025 IPL season, where he represented the Mumbai Indians (MI). The 38-year-old had a solid outing, accumulating 418 runs across 15 innings at an average of 29.85 and a strike rate of 149.28, which included four fifties. However, Mumbai’s run in the tournament ended in Qualifier 2 following a defeat to the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
India U-19 Appoint Ayush Mhatre As Captain For England Tour
The India Under-19 team will tour England soon. They will play five one-day matches starting on Friday, June 27, and then two Test matches beginning on July 12. Ayush Mhatre has been chosen as the captain. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young player from Rajasthan Royals who did well in IPL 2025, is also in the team.
