Sledging, rivalry, an altercation may be a wrong thing to follow in the game of cricket but they are something, which a section of fans looks after. They enjoy the rivalry between players and love to watch them going after each other with full intensity. One of those pairs, who entertained fans with their on-field rivalry is India’s Virat Kohli and Rubel Hossain of Bangladesh.
We often come across Rubel Hossain celebrating wildly after taking the wicket of Virat Kohli. Though people think of those celebrations for the specific game, the fact is that Hossain and Virat Kohli had differences right from their u19 days.
Virat Kohli used to sledge a lot – Rubel Hossain
The duo involved in an altercation in the u19 game when Virat Kohli and Rubel represented their respective countries. Hossain revealed that Kohli used to sledge batsman with abusive language, which didn’t go well with him.
“I have played against Virat Kohli since our U-19 days. So I have had things going on with him from our U-19 days. During the U-19 days, he used to sledge a lot. Now it may not be that much,” Rubel said during a Facebook Live session with teammates Tamim Iqbal and Taskin Ahmed.
“There was a match in South Africa, in a tri-national tournament. He was sledging a lot, abusing our batters. We know how it is. I had an altercation with him and the umpire had to intervene,” he added.
Kohli led India to a memorable triumph at the U-19 World Cup in 2008 and there has been no looking back since for the batting maestro. He has already proved his credentials as one of the best batsmen across formats in the present era and currently averages above fifty across formats.
