Chennai Super Kings batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been the find for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As Chennai bid farewell to the league, Ruturaj has posted a heartfelt message for skipper MS Dhoni and also revealed his first meeting with the legendary cricketer.

However, the young batsman from Pune didn’t have a great start to the campaign. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 and had to remain in quarantine before starting training in the UAE. Although he finished as one of the top-scorers in the franchise, but the start was not smooth.

Ruturaj Gaikwad post heartfelt message for MS Dhoni

Ruturaj Gaikwad was out for paltry scores to begin the campaign but came back stronger in the second half. He scored three consecutive half-centuries in the last three games of IPL 2020 for CSK as the Chennai-based outfit exited the tournament on a high. Those wins also helped CSK avoid a last spot finish in the points table.

On the back of a strong campaign, Ruturaj Gaikwad took to social media to post a heartfelt message for skipper MS Dhoni. Following the ‘how it started, how it’s going’ trend, he took a trip down memory lane and revisited his first meeting with the legendary cricketer.

“October 2016 I met him for the first time fractured my finger during my debut ranji game. He was the mentor of Jharkhand ..And he himself came and asked me about how I am!!” wrote Ruturaj Gaikwad. “October 2020..3 low scores, he himself came up and talked about life!!

Fortunate to be able to share the dressing room with him.. And more than a dream to share the 22 yards with him and Finishing things off!,” he added.

Ruturaj Gaikwad ended the season with 204 runs from six matches at an average of 51. He is likely to be among the core group of players as Chennai Super Kings look to rebuild the squad.
