Prithvi Shaw is currently one of the most talented batsmen in India. The right-handed batsman from Mumbai reminds everyone of Sachin Tendulkar. From a very young age, Prithvi was touted as the next big thing in Indian Cricket. However, his performance so far has been up and down and he hasn’t cemented his place in the Indian squad.

The opening batsman recently reveals that Sachin Tendulkar is always there to help him. Shaw feels privileged that the little master takes time out from his busy schedule to watch him practice.

He also revealed that Tendulkar speaks more about the mental aspects of batting rather than technical ones. Shaw has had many interactions with Tendulkar off the field and he has always emphasised on the mental aspects.

“I was eight years old when I met Sachin sir and since that time, he has been my mentor and I have learned a lot of things from him on the field what you have to do off the field, discipline and everything,” Shaw said during a live Instagram chat with his employer Indian Oil.

Prithvi Shaw who scored a maiden Ton on his Test match debut idolises Sachin Tendulkar. The former legendary batsman always takes his time out to watch Shaw bat in his practice. With Shaw being young Tendulkar understands this and focuses on providing him inputs that would help him mentally. Tendulkar represented India for 24 years in international cricket and was himself very strong in his mind.

“Now also whenever I go for practice, if Sachin Sir is there to watch me, he will talk, not much technically but mentally more so it’s been a great journey for me under the guidance of Sachin sir and a lot of coaches” added Shaw.

Tendulkar has also spoken about mentoring Shaw, “It’s true. I have had a number of interactions over the years with Prithvi. He is a very talented player and I am happy to help him. I spoke to him about cricket and also life beyond cricket field”, said Tendulkar.
