MS Dhoni was all set to make his return to competitive cricket in this year’s Indian Premier League. But unfortunately, due to the COVID-19, it got indefinitely postponed. Dhoni last played an international match in ICC World Cup semi-finals against New Zealand. While his return has been the most debated topic in the country, Ajay Ratra also threw his hat in the ring saying it will be difficult for MS Dhoni to make a comeback.

Former wicket-keeper of India Ajay Ratra recently commented on the future of former India skipper MS Dhoni. He said Dhoni will find it tough to make a comeback in the Indian team again. Dhoni will surely lead the Chennai Super Kings whenever IPL takes place. But with T20 World Cup also round the corner will he represent India again is talking point of the town.

Difficult for MS Dhoni to come back: Ajay Ratra

“You see, Dhoni is a very unpredictable player but yes there has been a long time since he played competitive Cricket. IPL 2020 seemed quite decisive for his international career.

“The team management would have closely monitored his performance and also how other wicketkeepers would have done during the IPL. Unfortunately, with IPL getting postponed indefinitely makes it difficult for Dhoni to make a comeback, but you never know with Dhoni”, Ratra told MyKhel.

Ratra, who made his international debut in 2001, was one of the wicketkeeper-batsman that played for India before Dhoni’s debut. He was part of the India Test squad that drew the series in England 1-1 in 2002. He retired from professional cricket in 2015 and is now a full-time coach. In total, he played 6 Test and 12 ODI matches for India in his career.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if MS Dhoni performs well in the IPL, will the team management once again consider him for the ICC T20 World Cup.
