India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has adopted an active role in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The outbreak of the deadly virus has come down hard on human lives. A complete lockdown has been prevailing in most parts of the world in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly disease.

Since COVID-19 broke out in China, it has spread like wildfire with the United States of America, Italy, Spain being the most affected countries. India have also witnessed a steep growth in the number of positive cases in the last few days with death toll crossing the 650-mark.

Many celebrities have come forward in the battle against COVID-19 by doing their bit including the cricketers. Many leading cricketers have donated money to fight in these crisis situations. Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been one of the leading sportsmen in the country who has actively taken part to spread the message.

Previously, Tendulkar has donated Rs 50 lakhs for the battle and also has pledged to provided ration to 5000 people for one month. And now, the legendary cricketer decided not to celebrate his birthday this year as a mark of respect to the frontline workers leading India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sachin has decided that this is not the time for celebrations. He feels that this is the best tribute he can pay to all the doctors, nurses, paramedics, policemen, defence personnel, who are at the frontline,” a source close to the player told PTI on Wednesday.

“He has always been very uncomfortable talking about this aspect,” the source added. 

Meanwhile, a fan club of Sachin Tendulkar will be releasing 40 rare photographs of the maestro and another will be highlighting all the social work and initiatives that the legend has undertaken in all these years. Notably, Tendulkar celebrates his birthday on the 24th of April.
