The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have already appointed Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the men’s Indian cricket team before appointing veteran batsman VVS Laxman as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Meanwhile, the BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly has given the hint at adding batting legend Sachin Tendulkar next to his list, although he stated that it might be a little different from others as well.

Talking to journalist Boria Majumdar during ‘Backstage with Boaria’, Ganguly said that there cannot be bigger news for Indian cricket than the addition of Sachin Tendulkar to the team. Moreover, he is keen to work amid the ‘conflict of interest’ too.

“Sachin is obviously a bit different. He doesn’t want to be involved in all this. I’m sure with Sachin’s involvement in Indian cricket in some way, it can’t be a better news than that. In what way that obviously needs to be worked out. Because there is too much of conflict all around. Rightly or wrongly, anything and everything you do you have the word ‘conflict’ keeps jumping out of the window, some of which I find really really unrealistic.

So you have to see the best way to keep the best talent involved in the game. And at some stage Sachin will also find a way to be involved in Indian cricket,” Sourav Ganguly said.

Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman take up role in BCCI

Rahul Dravid, who had earlier coached the under-19 team and guided them to winning World Cups and India’s A team before while being the head of the NCA, was named as the head coach earlier in October, replacing Ravi Shastri, whose tenure ended with the forgettable T20 World Cup campaign in the UAE.

Dravid’s tenure started with the T20I series win against New Zealand 3-0 and 1-0 in a two-Test series at home.

On the other hand, VVS Laxman had joined NCA and his first day at the NCA office was on December 13 as well. Earlier, he was the mentor of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and the batting consultant for Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)’s Vision Project as well.
